Airport Security

The level of security varies significantly at airports served by Bearskin Airlines. Please see the chart below for secure versus non-secure airports and plan to arrive sufficiently in advance of flight departure to allow for security clearance at secure airports. This is especially important at larger airports and at peak departure times.

Secure and non-secure refer to presence or absence of pre-board screening of passengers and their belongings by a CATSA representative.

Airport Secure Non-Secure
North Bay, Sudbury, Sault Ste Marie, Thunder Bay, Winnipeg X
Sioux Lookout, Fort Frances, Red Lake, Dryden, Kenora   X

The Air Travellers Security Charge applies for departing or connecting passengers through a secure airport. This fee is charged automatically on your ticket. Information on this fee is found on the Government of Canada website.

Connections from a Non-Secure to a Secure Airport

Passengers boarding a Bearskin Airlines flight at a non-secure airport and connecting to a flight at a secure airport must pick up their baggage at the connecting airport and pass through the security/baggage screening area. Boarding passes should be obtained from the connecting airline.
