Our scheduled fleet consists of 14 Metro III/23. We service 17 markets with over 100 departures daily. Currently our minimum qualifications include: 1000 hours total time and 100 hours Multi Engine with a valid Multi-IFR.

In addition to these minimum qualifications we value; communication skills, passenger service skills, northern flying experience and previous scheduled and/or charter experience.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and Apprentices

Bearskin Airlines operates two large maintenance facilities, one in Sioux Lookout and one in Thunder Bay. Our hangar in Sioux Lookout is the largest and most modern hangar at the airport. Our Thunder Bay hangar is 35,000 square and is one of the largest in the North.

Our maintenance teams carry out inspections and defect repairs on our aircraft, engines and avionics. The Thunder Bay base has an airframe shop, for structures and flight control rebuilding, and an overhaul shop responsible for overhauling aircraft components including welding and NDT capabilities. Thunder Bay also has an engine shop where we do the majority of our own engine work from repairs to overhauls for turbine engines.

Responsibilities include servicing, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, modification and functional testing of aircraft, including all aspects of maintaining aircraft.

Working as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer or Apprentice can be exciting and rewarding at Bearskin Airlines due to the diversity of work available.

Passenger Service Agent

The ideal applicant should possess a degree/diploma in Travel and Tourism or equivalent customer service experience. Data entry skills will be required to work with our reservations system. The ability to interact/relate to a wide variety of people and demands will ensure department success. Must have the ability to obtain airport security clearance.

Ramp Attendants and Groomers

The Ramp Attendant is responsible for the safe movement of baggage and cargo to and from the aircraft, the operation of ramp servicing vehicles, marshalling aircraft, as well as the general maintenance of the Hanger and office facilities.

The incumbent must have a minimum grade ten education with a valid Ontario Class G driver's license. They must be able to lift approximately 23 kg/40 lb. while loading/unloading aircraft. Must be bondable in order to hold an airport security pass. The ability to interact/relate to a wide variety of people and demands will ensure departmental success.

Dispatch

Dispatchers work from our Thunder Bay base. The main responsibilities of the dispatcher are to provide updated changes in flight schedules, flight following and delay summaries.

    The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer will be accountable for the safe, efficient and economical inspection and maintenance on all assigned aircraft.

    Qualifications:The successful applicant will be a licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, Category M1 or M2 a minimum of 5 years(less experience may be considered). Must have the ability to interpret and comprehend a variety of aircraft technical manuals and maintenance records as well as the ability to meet tight deadlines. Must also have a thorough understanding of the CARS as it relates to maintenance. Must possess an adequate tool kit.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

    check in passengers for their flight and allocate seats if necessary; direct passengers between the aircraft and gate, give messages about flight arrival and departure times to passenger; act as intermediary between passengers and flight crew and provides supervision of passengers while the flight is airborne, reports any concerns about passenger safety, deportment or health issues to the Captain of the aircraft; help passenger requiring special assistance, such as disabled passengers, and younger passengers travelling alone with embarking and disembarking; provide supervision of passengers at times when the flight is delayed, rerouted or canceled OR until passengers are to be released into alternate suitable supervision.

    Specific Dutiesinclude, but are not limited to the following: inspect structural and mechanical systems of aircraft on a regular basis and perform maintenance duties on all Company aircraft; maintain detailed repair, inspection and certification records IAW CARS and Company Maintenance policy and procedure manuals; assist the Crew Chief in directing and instructing the Aircraft Maintenance Apprentice and Junior engineers in their duties and work procedures; assume the Crew Chief’s responsibilities when they are absent or when required; requisition parts that are needed for the aircraft; update on regulatory matters; perform Summary Searches to complete Service Bulletins.
